The student should assert that there are similarities between homosexual and heterosexual couples. Both want close, stable relationships. Their relationships had the same concerns, power and communication in the relationship. The incidence of violence of battering tends to be the same. There are also differences between gay and straight couples. Gay couples are more egalitarian in their roles. They also experience less support from family members. Gay men are more promiscuous as compared to heterosexual men or lesbians.
