Propose a growth setup that an industrial microbiologist would create to obtain large quantities of a bacteriocidal product of secondary metabolism

Be certain to explain how temperature and dissolved oxygen parameters would be selected as well as how stationary growth phase would be maintained.
What will be an ideal response?

Answer: A continuous culture device (e.g., a chemostat) would be able to maintain the cell population at stationary growth phase. The continuous flow of the growth medium exiting the chemostat would allow for easy collection of the bacteriocidal product and prevent accumulation of it which might harm the population. Both temperature and dissolved oxygen parameters should be selected on the basis for maximum production rates of the bacteriocidal compound during stationary growth phase. The cells being constantly maintained at stationary growth phase would require a relatively low dilution rate of nutrients flowing into the chemostat, which in turn translates to a relatively low release of bacteriocidal product.
