What is internal criticism? Provide an example of your own, or from the text that demonstrates why internal criticism is necessary

What will be an ideal response?

Internal criticism is a process through which a researcher seeks to assess the meaning of the statements in the document, or the possible meanings and/or intentions of some artifacts, which have now (through external criticism) been established as genuine. Internal criticism is important, because the fact that a document is genuine does not guarantee that it is valid, or without errors and intentional bias. An example of when internal criticism is necessary is the tendency of groups to create primary sources that only provide their skewed version of the events. This is shown in the "official records" compiled by the British Government during the time of the United Irish uprising of 1798. The Irish were uprising against the British, and many of the rebellion's leaders have gone down in Irish history as the equivalent of George Washington or Thomas Jefferson. However, the British "evidence" compiled condemns these same men as traitors, self-serving, liars, or worse. This is due to the bias of the British point of view.
