Discuss the nature-nurture issue as it applies to intelligence

What will be an ideal response?

Substantial evidence supports the perspective that intelligence is strongly influenced by genetics. There is a strong correlation between genetic relationships and IQ scores. Twin studies and adoption studies both support the role of genetics in determining our intelligence. However, there is strong evidence that the environment also plays a crucial role in determining our intelligence. Most researchers believe that both are important in determining intelligence. Heritability indices indicate that between 50% and 70% of the variability in intelligence is determined by genetic factors. The remaining 30% of 50% is determined by environmental influences.
