Explain why the word cause is problematic in this statement "Everything and everyone has a cause."

What will be an ideal response

Cause is ambiguous in a problematic way, unless we know the context within which that sentence is being used. If we are talking about physics, then cause refers to the factor or factors which brought about that object or person as in "the leaky pipe caused the water to drip on the floor." But if we are talking about philanthropy, then cause refers to the charitable purpose of giving donations, as in "I contributed to the Doctors Without Borders" because I believe in that cause."
