What are the three types of social structure theories that this chapter describes? What are the major differences among them?

What will be an ideal response?

This chapter describes three types of social structure theories: social disorganization theory, strain theory, and culture conflict theory. Social disorganization theory sees society as an organism and crime as a disease or social pathology. Strain theory emphasizes the lack of fit between socially approved goals for success and the availability of socially approved means to achieve those goals; individuals who are unable to succeed through legitimate means may turn to other means to achieve economic and social success. Culture conflict theory statues that the root causes of crime are found in the clash of values between differently socialized groups concerning what is proper or acceptable behavior.
