How is a Career Portfolio different from a Career Management Files Tracker? What items should you put in your Career Portfolio?
The Career Management Files Tracker is a tool for organizing career search (and career) documents. The documents in the CMFT are for the job seeker's personal use. Each job seeker also has a Career Portfolio with items that demonstrate the job seeker's skills and qualifications.
Each student's Career Portfolio will be different. In general terms, a Career Portfolio contains items that demonstrate the candidate's qualifications through items related to work experience, performance, and credentials (resume, performance reviews, references, letters, etc.); education, training, degrees, and certificates; work samples (writing samples, software-generated documents, etc.); military records; community service. The portfolio should also include forms of identification and proof of eligibility to work. Media may include paper documents, flash drive or CD/DVD with documents, videotapes and audiotapes, and artwork and photographs.
