Define cultural relativism. Why is cultural relativism so important to sociological research? What problems may arise when this concept is not understood?
What will be an ideal response?
Cultural relativism allows the researcher to view the behaviors of people belonging to a certain culture as products of that culture and prevents them from judging the behaviors in contrast to their own culture. Ethnocentrism prevents a researcher from being objective, which is a foundation of social scientific research.
