What are the steps in composing an executive summary for a report?
What will be an ideal response?
The challenge is to shrink the report down to its major facts, analyses, and
conclusions, including everything that is key, while keeping it to about one tenth the
length of the report. The easiest way to accomplish this task is to first write the entire
report; then go through it and highlight the key statements, generalizations, and topic
sentences. Then, just transfer the key statements to a fresh file or page, in the same
order that they appear in the report. Finally, edit for clarity and conciseness.
