Your firm has just entered the exciting world of e-filing for divorce cases. Your attorney has asked you to prepare a training manual for the firm to help expedite the process and avoid pitfalls. What will you include?
What will be an ideal response?
You will provide basic information about the firm's account, and the filing and payment procedures. You would provide links to any training material from the court, such as guidelines, videos, WebEx training, or tutorials. You would remind everyone about the sensitivity to deadlines, double-checking attached documents (Right pleading? Right motion? Right case?), and not catching any e-mails from the court, such as notifications, in the "spam-catcher" or junk mail file. Court dockets should be checked to make sure pleadings or other documents were received. All electronic documents should be carefully checked for privacy violations, and properly redacted. Federal and state laws should be included in the manual, and samples of redacting, with those guidelines, should be provided. We will need to identify staff members or outside professionals who can resolve technical issues in a hurry!
