How do communication, speech, and language disorders interact with other areas of disability?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers should address the fact that many children with exceptionalities will also have difficulties with speech, language, and/or communication. If this is the case, addressing communication problems should be a part of the interventions planned for that student. An expert (such as a speech pathologist) should be involved in the student's IEP process and may provide direct services depending on the student's need. Communication is central for all students with exceptionalities so attention should be paid to needs in this area.
