How did interactions with the Algonquins shape the Jamestown colony's early history?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The English and Spanish tried to wipe out Jamestown, but the Algonquins defended their homeland, Virginia. For weeks, the settlers and Algonquins fought and even though the English had better weapons, the Indians were more aware for their surroundings. However, English men soon started to face disease and starvation. The Algonquins came to the rescue and began to bring corn to the colony for barter. Corn soon became a very important good for the English men that they would do anything for; including killing many Indians.
