Is it easier to detect a point mutation or a mutation caused by a deletion by restriction analysis?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Not all point mutations affect target sites for restriction enzymes, and therefore they may not cause a different restriction map. Deletions, on the other hand, always result in an alteration in the distance between restriction sites flanking the deletion and will therefore alter the restriction map in that region.
