Insects and humans are both categorized as animals. Describe how insects' respiratory system, circulatory system, and digestive system differ from humans.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: In humans, the respiratory system allows for oxygen exchange to take place in the lungs and for blood to be the carrier of the oxygen. In insects, they do not have lungs. Instead they have a tracheal system that's made up of tracheal tubes and spiracles. Oxygen is also transported trough diffusion. In humans, the circulatory system has a closed system. The heart is four chambered and circulation is provided through hemoglobin. On the other hand, in insects, they have an open system. They just don't involve oxygen transport. The heart looks like a long tube and the circulation is provided through tracheal tues. In humans, the digestive system begins in the tongue (by 30%). The gut is lined with mucosa. On the other hand, in insects, the mouthparts are provided through the feet and the wings of the digestive system. The gut is lined with cuticle and crop and proventriculus are present.
