What is bonding, and why do some hospitals deter bonding?
What will be an ideal response?
Bonding refers to the formation of a close connection, especially a physical bond, between parents and their newborn in the period shortly after birth. Some hospitals seem determined to deter bonding because they feel that drugs given to the mother to make her delivery less painful can make the mother drowsy, thus interfering with her ability to respond to and stimulate the newborn.
