Gather a set of 8-10 picturebooks and create a 3-column chart to document the design decisions for each book (see chapter for a list of design features) and how those decisions relate to each book's meaning - e.g. size and orientation of book, dust jacket, endpapers, title page. Select one of these picturebooks to share with children, using suggested questions from Lambert (2015) to encourage children to make observations about the paratextual features in the design.
