Do a remote moderated usability test.
What will be an ideal response?
At least one week before class:
• Sign up for your free account in UserTesting’s University Partnerships program.
(See instructions on page 48 of this Guide.)
A few days before class:
• Choose a site or app to test and two or three tasks for the participant to do. (Keep
in mind that they will only have about 15 minutes to do your tasks.)
• Sign in to your free UserTesting account and create a test. (This will be your pilot
test.)
• When you receive email notifying you that the test has been completed, follow the
link in the email and watch the test video.
• If your test produced useful insights, repeat the test with two more users and
watch the videos. If the first participant didn’t understand your tasks or the pilot
test didn’t produce any useful insights, consider modifying the tasks to make
them clearer or better focused before testing further.
During class:
• Show an interesting clip from one of your tests to the class.
• Explain what you learned from your tests and what you would change.
