What kind of cognitive radio concept can be used to avoid interference between wireless nodes?

What will be an ideal response?

The basic concept of cognitive radio implies sensing if one type of user (primary user) is not using the channel so as to allow the same channel to be used by another secondary user. When the primary user is expected to come back and start using the channel, the secondary user is expected to release use of that channel. If such sensing can be done between two wireless devices, interference between them can be avoided to larger extent. However, a single wireless radio can either transmit or receive (sense) the signal. So, a single wireless radio cannot do both and some co-ordination between two radios for a single station can help avoid interference.
