Do IQ scores predict academic achievement?

What will be an ideal response?

Because IQ tests measure cognitive abilities similar to those used in academic settings, it is no surprise there is a medium-strength association, or correlation, between IQ scores and grades (0.50) and between IQ scores and total years of education that people complete (0.50).

However, based on medium-strength correlations alone, it would be difficult to predict a specific person's academic performance because performance in academic settings also depends on personal characteristics, such as one's interest in school, willingness to study, and belief in one's ability to succeed
