What is aesthetic reading? What is efferent reading? Give some examples of an efferent reading. How might they overlap
What will be an ideal response?
Aesthetic reading involves a personal or emotional reaction to a selection. The reader?s attention is centered directly on what is being experienced, lived, and felt while reading. Efferent reading involves finding information, understanding a process, or learning steps for performing a task or taking an action. Both types of reading can overlap, however. A student may read the same piece aesthetically, for emotional impact, as well as efferentially, for information.
