Compare and contrast the terms race and ethnic group.
What will be an ideal response?
Biologists consider race to be distinct and exclusive groups of people, each with a common set of physical features, such as skin color, hair texture and color, and so on. The term ethnic group refers to a group that shares a common culture, language, geographical origin, and so on. Ethnic groups are flexible and often self-defined. Race tends to be less flexible and is based on physical appearance. However, many people do not understand the difference between race and ethnic group and often believe they mean the same thing. Some people may share both the same race and the same ethnic group label. However, other people might share the same race but a different ethnic group label or vice versa.
