Explain how and why color perception can change as adults age.
What will be an ideal response?
As adults age, the lenses of their eyes tend to become less transparent, making it more difficult for light to pass through them. The loss of transparency is most pronounced for short wavelengths of light. As a consequence, the ability to see blue colors is impacted. This can lead to increased confusion of blues and yellows. However, in most people the loss of sensitivity to blue is so gradual that it goes unnoticed.
