Explain the glass ceiling and glass escalator

glass ceiling – women may hit an artificial barrier beyond which they can't go (or get promoted), though they can see others above them; glass escalator – men in traditional women's fields tend to be promoted to administrative positions faster than women in those fields, (i.e. riding up more quickly).
