When cancer driver genes are mutated, the cell will gain an advantage over normal cells.
Oncogenes, one type of cancer driver gene, are cancer activating genes. The abnormal
oncogene protein products do not function properly in signal transduction pathways;
therefore preventing cells from completing cell division.
