What are some effects of global climate change besides rising sea levels?

What will be an ideal response?

Temperature changes are important cues for many temperate zone species. Abnormally warm spring temperatures are causing deciduous trees to put leaves out earlier, and spring-blooming plants to flower earlier. Animal migration times and breeding seasons are also shifting.

Species arrays in biological communities are changing as warmer temperatures allow some species to expand their range to higher latitudes or elevations. Warmer temperatures are also expected to drive some species to extinction.

Temperature also affects evaporation, winds, and currents, so many weather patterns are expected to change. For example, extremes in rainfall patterns and increased intensity of hurricanes.
