Describe how the National Crime Victimization Survey is compiled and the validity concerns associated with this method of measuring crime

What will be an ideal response?

National Crime Victimization Surveys (NCVS) is a nationwide survey of victimization in the United States compiled by the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The NCVS contains a nationally representative sample of 38,000 households and interviews approximately 136,000 individuals over the age of twelve each year. These surveys include information about the age, race, sex, ethnicity, marital status, income and education levels of victims and offenders. Concerns over the validity of NCVS include overreporting by victims, underreporting by victims, inability to record the personal criminal activity of those surveyed, sampling errors, and inadequate question format.
