Describe the method of wet-bedding blending.

What will be an ideal response?

To solve the problems that arose with the most difficult colors, a blending method was needed which would allow the newly applied colors to lay on a bead that was wet, so
that they could be held in place properly when sprayed. Also, if the color were to fall into a wet area, the additives like mica would not show as a dry area at the end of the blend.
To accomplish these goals, the wet-bedding method is now used. A technician sprays a coating of blending clear on the panel to be blended before the color is applied. Then the color can be applied in the reverse blending method. Thus, all of the color that hits the
vehicle will land in a wet “bed.”
If a blending clear is not available, the technician can mix the clear that he will use following the application of color, over-reducing it by 10 to 20% with a slow reducer,
allowing the clear to stay wet longer. The technician should apply a light coat of this blending clear to the complete panel, and then apply the color using the reverse blending method.
