Evaluate the religious changes that came with each new monarch after Henry VIII’s death.
What will be an ideal response?
Henry’s son Edward was raised in the Protestant faith, and he ordered the removal of images and altars from churches. His sister Mary, who ascended to the throne after Edward’s death, was a devout Catholic. Mary restored Catholic doctrine and practice and executed many Protestants. When Elizabeth became queen after Mary’s death, she tried to find a middle road between the two extremes, establishing the Anglican Church, which merged Protestant doctrine with Catholic ritual.
