Describe a benefit of cloning plants and animals. What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: Plant and animal food sources have been improved by artificial selection for thousands of
years. Cloning is simply a type of artificial selection in which biotechnology makes it
possible for organisms with desirable characteristics to be cloned in order to perpetuate those
characteristics. Cloning has the potential to make food more healthful and less expensive as
animals with desirable traits are cloned, and the clones are then used for breeding and further
improvement of those characteristics
