Identify how race and gender affect plea bargain decisions.
What will be an ideal response?
Examples should indicate that some research found more leniency for females compared to males concerning plea deals, while others found no influence. Race, however, plays a significant role. Blacks are less likely to receive reduced charges and when they receive a plea bargain the sentence is harsher than that offered to Whites. Hispanics are less likely to be offered lenient plea bargains compared with similar White and Black defendants.
