If a woman experiences PTSD due to rape, she will likely experience flashbacks, reactivity symptoms, and have negative changes in her thoughts and mood. A number of factors may worsen a woman’s psychological response to rape, such as whether she had previously experienced sexual violence, how severe the violence was, and how others reacted when she disclosed the rape.
