What was The Paramount Decree? What effect did it have on the film industry? Is that effect still visible today?

What will be an ideal response?

The Paramount Decree, passed by the US congress in the late 1940s was intended to break the monopoly the film studios had over the industry and essentially led to the break-down of the studio system and the rise of the independent producer. Students should note that it led to a rise in independent-produced and independent-minded cinema in the 1960s and the 1970s and that the blockbuster films of the 1980s and 1990s, as well as certain pro-business law changes have lessened this significantly. Students may include the ideas of horizontal integration and conglomeration that have come to replace the older methods.
