Define pheromones and describe an industry that has incorporated the role of pheromones in their marketing campaigns. Explain why the majority of these claims are actually scams.

What will be an ideal response?

Pheromones are chemical scent signals that humans and animals use to communicate their readiness, or lack of readiness, to mate. The cosmetic and perfume industries have capitalized on the idea of scent as an attractant for members of the opposite sex. These claims are most likely scams, as their products do not contain human hormones, the source of pheromones-which means that they are unlikely to work as a signal for the readiness to mate. They are also unlikely to affect hormone levels in people exposed to the products.
