Aesthetic response can be fostered by allowing children to express their feelings immediately after reading a selection. They most often start by meeting in small discussion groups. Reader Response is another method by which students read and then discuss a piece, using a number of open-ended questions. They might also write in journals, visualize characters or plots through ?open mind? techniques, write letters or poems to the character, converse in pairs as the characters might through ?duologue,? pose as a character in an imaginary situation, or write s short rap or poem summarizing feelings about the selection.
