Describe how wood foundations are made and used, and how they arrive at the site.

What will be an ideal response?

Wood foundations are sometimes used for buildings with basements or crawl spaces. The materials are stress graded to insure they can withstand lateral soil and subsurface water pressures. Wood materials must have the stamp of the American Wood Preservers Association (AWPA). Foundation panels are often shop-built and then shipped to site. The studs forming the panel face the inside of the building and are insulated in the same manner as an exterior above-grade wall.
