A genetically modified organism is a transgenic plant or animal that contains a gene or genes not
naturally found in that organism that attempts to improve the organism for human’s benefit. Two main
concerns include the safety of genetically modified food for human consumption and the potential
adverse effects of these organisms in the environment.
