• Diagnostic criteria includes: 1) exposure to trauma; 2) dysregulated development in emotions, behavior, health, cognition, relationships, etc.; 3) negative attributions and expectations from others; and 4) functional impairments in any or all areas of life
• PTSD is triggered by an environmental trauma that may or may not be within the family
