What do you do if you fail your first test?
What will be an ideal response?
Option One: I can use the test to determine what problems and math concepts I don’t know. I can ask the teacher to review the test with me and make suggestions about how to learn the material. However, I must learn what I don’t know before the next math test, or I could be “lost” for the entire semester.
Option Two: I can talk to my instructor about dropping back to a lower level math course. This would be a good idea if I just guessed well on the placement test or had not taken math for several years. It would be better to drop back than fail the course several times – or not pass it at all.
Option Three: I can do nothing and just hope that I pass the course. I may have to repeat it several times which could delay my graduation or cause me to lose my financial aid.
