Which kernel subsystems were modified to support NUMA?

What will be an ideal response?

Although many subsystems required modification, the most notable changes occurred
in the process scheduler and memory manager. The process scheduler must be aware of the
physical layout of a NUMA system so that it does not migrate processes to processors
located in different nodes. The memory manager must be aware of which memory addresses
are accessed by which processors, so that when a process requests memory, the kernel can
allocate memory from the node on which the process executes.
