What is involved in the process of spermatogenesis?
What will be an ideal response?
This is the process whereby sperm are produced. Spermatogenesis begins at the outermost layer of cells in the seminiferous tubules when stem cells called spermatogonia divide throughout adult life. One of the daughter cells remains as a stem cell; the other is pushed toward the lumen of the tubule. This cell differentiates into a primary spermatocyte that prepares to begin meiosis, the process of cell division that results in each cell having one-half the normal number of chromosomes, called haploid.
