Explain the reasoning behind the placement of the feeding tube into the small intestines in Mr. Y's case
The feeding tube in the small intestines makes it more difficult for aspiration to take place. In order for tube feeding to be aspirated, it would have to pass through the pyloric sphincter and the cardiac sphincter. With a gastric tube, the feeding would just have to pass through the cardiac sphincter.
