Only one side of the Moon faces Earth. Is this because the Moon spins about its axis, or doesn't spin about its axis? Defend your answer
What will be an ideal response?
The Moon does indeed spin about its axis, just as the Earth spins about its axis. The difference is in rates. The Earth spins once each day while the Moon spins once each month. The reason the same side of the Moon faces Earth is because its monthly spin coincides with its monthly revolution about the Earth. Both its spin rate and revolution rate are the same.
