One way negotiators deal with the other party's use of deception is to "call" the tactic. Explain what this means.
What will be an ideal response?
When a negotiator calls the tactic, they indicate to the other side that they know the other party is bluffing or lying. The negotiator should do so firmly, and indicate their displeasure. Remember that mistakenly calling the other party a liar or an unethical negotiator is certainly not the path to a constructive process and fruitful outcome.
