Describe Cuijpers et al.’s (2013) procedures for their meta-analysis.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The researchers initially reviewed 1,237 articles addressing the treatment of depression, dating from 1966 to 2011. They reviewed the full texts of the 1,237 articles. The researchers provided a definition of CBT and how the definition was used to determine inclusion in the meta-analysis. Studies that were excluded included those that focused on adolescents, a duplicate publication, no random assignment to group, had multiple diagnoses beyond depression, no psychotherapy was provided, no control condition, effect size could not be calculated, and did not use CBT. After reviewing the 1,237 studies, only 115 were retained for the meta-analysis.
