What will be an ideal response?

Filtering restricts the traffic on a network based on specific criteria. There are basically three types of filtering:
* Address filtering-This restricts access based on the media access control number or IP address.
* Data filtering-Data filtering limits a packet based on the contents of what that packet is carrying.
* Protocol filtering-This filter restricts specific protocols from being transmitted on the network.
