Define total quality management and explain how the contractor can achieve a strong total quality management program.

What will be an ideal response?

Total quality management is a process of bringing quality to the construction project. The quality of a construction project is the product of innovation, quality improvement, and productivity improvement, implemented by an involved and responsible workforce. The construction industry has always been involved in this; however, the industry has depended on decisions from strong leadership rather than involving employees at all levels to participate in improving the quality of the product and process. The contractor can achieve a strong total quality management program that involves employees in improving the product. The measure of success of a quality management program is customer satisfaction. The continued success of the contractor is directly related to this.
