How do earthworms move?

What will be an ideal response?

The earthworm has two sets of muscles. Longitudinal muscles parallel the body's long axis, and circular muscles ring the body. The worm's coelomic fluid is a hydrostatic skeleton. Action of the muscles puts pressure on the fluid trapped inside body segments, causing them to change shape. When a segment's longitudinal muscles contract, the segment gets shorter and fatter. When circular muscles contract, a segment gets longer and thinner. Coordinated waves of contraction that run along the body propel the worm through soil.
