The most commonly reported rewards of parenting include feelings of love, affection, happiness, self-fulfillment, satisfaction. Children bring fun and excitement. It's a pleasure to watch them grow, and with the sense of family that is created, one can be viewed as successful and competent parent by others. In a study conducted by Langenbrunner and Blanton (1993), satisfaction with parenting included six major areas:
