What is the difference between rim width and wheel offset?

Rim width is the measurement from bead seat to bead seat. It is usually about 80% of the cross-sectional width of the tire. The centerline is at one-half of the rim width.  Wheel offset is the difference between the rim centerline and the mounting surface of the wheel.
