A kindergarten teacher wants to collect data on a new behavior modification program to reduce out-of-seat
behavior throughout the school day for three students in her class. Which data collection system would you
recommend she use and why? Contrast the benefits of the system you recommended against two other
systems of data collection.
What will be an ideal response?
Recommended data collection system: Frequency
Possible reasons why Frequency: Because the teacher is evaluating three students' behavior across
an extended period of time, I would recommend frequency. It could be implemented using a basic recording of tally marks on the board or moving clips from one pocket to the other to record the occurrence of the behavior. Benefits over interval or time sampling data collection procedures relates to ease of implementation, with both of these procedures the teacher must establish an interval period and then have some sort of curing system to prompt her to examine the students behavior.
